  1. Does this list really matter to anyone other than the included writers, who may get a bump in lit cred or sales? How much does the age of the author really matter in terms of what we read? How many of these writers have you read, Donora?

  2. To be honest, I haven't read many of them at all. Yar.

  3. I know ten of the names. I've read fragments of most of those and read seriously (like at least one complete book) um... two. I believe the "lit community" is a whole lotta subcultures.

  4. hmmm. i read about half of the list. probably chris adrian is my fav of that group, although i did like extremely loud and incredibly close even though it wasnt as good as the hype. what is really? snickers? chocolate covered pretzels? an hour at the bunny ranch if you go with unlimited bankroll?

i think lists like these go a long way in creating pop culture. i mean, lets face it, people read lists like these and thats how they decide on their reading lists for the upcoming year.

also, i think people read lists like these with a chip on their shoulder.... why? find a way to push it off, read some of these books, and enjoy. start with chris adrians story fallen angel from the new yorker. its online.. and wont disappoint.

  5. I admit, I'm a sucker for lists. Lists of the "top fifty earring styles in eighties videos" and so on...
